Indiegogo Campaign for KC Fringe Festival 2020

https://igg.me/at/uncalledfor-fringe2020/

For the 2020 Kansas City Fringe Festival, we would like to record a few interview episodes of This Podcast Is... Uncalled For LIVE in front of an audience.

We will line up between 5 and 10 guests to bring onto the podcast - mostly brand new guests but we will welcome some returning guests from the first two seasons of the podcast. No topic is off limits, and there will be an opportunity for audience interaction.

The application fee for a small venue performance is $300, and needs to be paid no later than February 15, 2020. While we can try to pay for it out of pocket, life and expenses get in the way.

That's where you come in.

With your donation, you will receive a special thanks in our show notes, on our programs, and may get a shout out during one of our live sessions.

We do plan on filming all of our performances, and the audio will absolutely be part of our podcast.

Why I Am (Now) A Cards Fan

In this post-St. Louis NFL world, Mike is still struggling to even watch football, but did ultimately settle on a new team to pull for - the Arizona Cardinals.

Today, we revisit the Winning Side Coaches podcast to when Mike and "Controversy" Keith Lott looked at every single NFL team to see which ones would be a good fit for the long-suffering former St. Louis NFL fan.

Ty Gephardt

Released July 19, 2019.  Ty Gephardt has had a lot of life experiences similar to Mike’s – and has helped Mike out on things on occasion. Among these experiences: interning for KCPT, getting involved with geek culture, and a subject we’ll discuss on the podcast that Mike is ready to come out of the closet on…

Thoughts on the NFL and St. Louis

Released July 12, 2019 Once in a while, a subject will come up that doesn’t fit the interview format well. Or, Mike just doesn’t have any interviews ready to publish. When this happens, we will continue to provide content in the form of “Thoughts” episodes. Today is the first of these, and it is a subject that has now been brought up three times so far on the podcast: the National Football League’s (mis)treatment of St. Louis.

DaVaun Williams

Released July 5, 2019 We have to touch on the fact that Mike is a chess instructor at some point in the podcast, so here’s the first time we’ll be touching on that. Today’s podcast features one of Mike’s fellow chess instructors, DaVaun Williams. While he is taking a hiatus from teaching at the time of this podcast’s release, DaVaun is a very highly rated chess player (not grandmaster level, though) and an overall good guy.

Smash Up Playthrough with BriAnne Friesen

Released June 28, 2019 Smash Up, designed by Paul Peterson and published by Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG) is Mike’s favorite tabletop game. In it, players take two different factions – each represented by a 20 card deck – shuffle them together, and fight over bases. The factions tend to be referenced to geek culture – including but not limited to bronies, Star Trek, martial arts, and Cthulhu. Not only is this Mike’s favorite game, he is a playtester for the game. No, there will be no spoilers for upcoming developments as Mike (and all playtesters, actually) is under a non-disclosure agreement. Today, you will hear Mike explain, in as good a detail as he possibly can, how the game plays. Then, we’ll hear an actual game (again: not a playtest) being played between Mike and fellow playtester BriAnne Friesen. Mike played with Samurai and Minions of Cthulhu, while BriAnne played with Clerics and Ghosts. You’ll have to listen for the final score.

Matt Sewell

Released June 21, 2019 Matt Sewell is an old high school friend of Mike’s who, among other things, helped Mike kick off his trek to becoming a media freelancer. On today’s podcast, the two old friends talk about their high school days and early video work. Underage drinking is among the subjects discussed. Also, Mike’s infamous Minneapolis story. Matt is currently running a farm where he and his family raise Belted Galloway cows for beef production. The two friends met up at Wingz and More in Grandview, MO and did the podcast over lunch.

Chris Hurt

Released June 14, 2019 Chris Hurt is, among other things, a very talented improvisational actor and a geek, both of which are discussed on today’s podcast. We even participate in an improv exercise called The Alphabet Game. Chris is also responsible for coming up with the name of the Winning Side Coaches podcast, and discusses his reasoning for coming up with the name.

Tim Crippen

Released June 7, 2019 Tim Crippen was Mike’s primary co-host on the Winning Side Coaches podcast. Before that, they worked together for Silpada Designs. On today’s episode, Tim and Mike talk about their time at the company as well as their podcast memories. We also talk about one of the former podcast’s defining features – the batsu game.

Adam McKeith

Released May 31, 2019 Today, we interview Adam McKeith, a Los Angeles based actor who got his start in Kansas City. Adam plays Det. Vaughn Anderson in Mike’s sci-fi web series Tales from the Interim Net. Adam is also an avid sports fan and talks about a few sports related stories, including whether or not LA is a good football town. We also talk about how Mike got into film.

Trevor Martin

Released May 24, 2019 Today’s episode is with Trevor Martin, who is an actor and filmmaker in the Kansas City area. We discuss Trevor’s experiences with acting, remember our late friend and mentor David Berry, and talk about how it was like to act with a local sports icon.

Pat Lamb

Released May 17, 2019 Our first interview is with Pat Lamb, who is a Kansas City based independent filmmaker and photographer. Pat is also heavily involved with the local Boy Scouts. Most of today’s interview includes sharing some stories of filmmaking experiences both Pat and Mike have had, including a One Night Stand film called Unfiltered.
